Create a Collaborative Work of Art ♾️

Let's work together to visually represent neurodiversity. 🌈 💫
4

You’re invited to participate in a collaborative work of art.

Follow the tutorial above (or this one) to create a circular weaving to represent your experience of neurodivergence. You will mail your weaving to me and I will connect them making a large collaborative fiber work.

You can use:

  • yarn

  • thread

  • strips of shopping bags

  • strips of old clothing

  • foraged materials

Click here to sign up. 💌

This will give me an idea of how many folks are planning to participate. Later on I will send out my mailing address and send email reminders as the due date approaches. You can be anonymous or credited by name.

Please mail your work by August 1.

Those who sign up above will receive email reminders as the due date approaches.

I hope this can be a fun summer project - especially for families!

You’re welcome to submit a weaving for each person in your family. In the video I said neurodivergent members, but in the case of mixed neurotype families please submit weavings from all of your kids. I don’t want to leave anyone out and I’d like to include all of your kids to celebrate neurodiversity.

We are not however seeking artworks from neurotypical adults.

Please invite your neurodivergent friends! I’m envisioning a huge number of weavings for this project hung across a large white wall. Once I’ve photographed the work I will submit it to various art exhibitions as a collaborative fiber arts piece.

I also wanted to give a quick update on our Open Call.

I’m in the process of curating the summer issue. This will likely be July or August due to some corrupted files.

There will be a winter issue and an exhibition so it is not too late to submit work!

Right now we have a lot of literal weavings. There are also a lot of written works.

I’d love to see works in visual mediums (or multimedia!)

Our 2024 theme is weaving. You are invited to explore related concepts (unravelling, knots, tangles, integrating, combining, etc.)

Consider submitting older works so long as you have a photograph. It does not have to be a new piece for consideration.

Works in ANY MEDIUM are welcome.

This includes, but is not limited to…

Fiction

Video

Dance / Performance Art

Handcraft

Poetry

Visual Art

New Media / Coding

Photography

Sculpture

Personal Storytelling

Creative Infodumps

& More

Submissions will be considered for publication all year. 🖤
