Letter from the Editor,
I’m delighted to share the first edition of Neurokind featuring work by our artists in residence:
, & Richelle Shadoan. This is the first of four updates we’ll have from our residents throughout the year. Click through to each of their posts to see their work.
I’d also like to remind everyone of the Open Call due March 31.
Works submitted to the Open Call will be used for 1-2 collaborative issues of Neurokind. There will also be a virtual exhibition.
I’ve answered some of your questions about the submission process in the footnote below. If you had trouble with the form there was a small glitch which has now been resolved.1
We’re also 32% of the way to funding a Neurokind print publication for 2024.
If you’d like to become a member or send a one time donation you can find information for that below.
Now, let’s see what our artists in residence have been up to!

I’m also looking for opportunities to host a physical art exhibition. If you have any ideas (including creative or non traditional venues) please reach out!
Here are the answers to a few common questions about the open call.
Submit works in any medium (visual, written, or interdisciplinary). Whether your work is words, image, video, or audio there should be a way to share it here.
Work should explore the theme of “weave”, but there is scope to make it your own. You’re welcome to explore related concepts such as: combine, knot, tangle, braid, entwine, merge. Or play with opposites such as unravelling.
You must identify as neurodivergent, but a diagnosis is not required to participate. (Neurodivergence includes, but is not limited folks who are autistic, ADHD, OCD, syntesthetes, dyspraxic, dyslexic, dyscalculic, etc. It also includes those with sensory processing differences such as hyper sensitivity or hypo sensitivity. )
Publication with Neurokind is a “non exclusive” agreement. This means you may submit work that have been previously published or exhibited. (Yes, this includes your own blog or Substack.)
