Neurokind Open Call 2024 (Due September 1)
Seeking Art & Writing from Neurodivergent Creators
UPDATE: Deadline September 1.
I’m so excited to share the Neurokind Open Call for 2024.
We will have two virtual publications and an exhibition of work around our 2024 theme:
"to make (a complex story or pattern) from a number of interconnected elements."
You are invited to consider how weaving and interconnectivity is part of your neurodivergent experience.
Works should follow the Neurokind Content Guidelines.
This is a space for connection.
Our content guidelines have been carefully created to make Neurokind a welcoming and accessible place. Please take the time to read these guidelines before submitting work.
A diagnosis is not required to contribute.
Neurodivergence includes, but is not limited to those identify as autistic, ADHD, OCD, syntesthetes, dyspraxic, dyslexic, dyscalculic, etc. It also includes those with sensory processing differences such as hyper sensitivity or hypo sensitivity.
Flexible Deadlines
To make this project as accessible as possible there is a rolling deadline for each project. The first deadline has passed.
The final deadline is September 1.
Works submitted at this time will be considered for the second issue and virtual exhibition.
Submission Process
There is no fee to apply.
Non members may submit 1-2 works.
Paying members may submit up to 5 works.
If you would like to support the project directly (outside of the Substack ecosystem) you may join the Paid tier via Venmo for $60 a year. Mark your payment as “Neurokind Membership” and include your best email address. Kindly allow up to 7 days to be added to the paid tier via Venmo as I will have to do this manually.
2025 Artists in Residence
All contributors will be considered for a 2025 Neurokind Residency.
This means by submitting art you’ll be applying for a residency without doing more paperwork.
AND you don’t have to push through imposter syndrome to apply.
Win, win!
Creators who are active in the Neurokind community will be given preference when 2025 residents are chosen. Engaging in comments, sharing posts, participating in workshops & collabs, supporting fellow creators, etc. will increase your chances of being offered a residency.
This is an independent, volunteer run publication.
I’m your curator
. You can find more of my work at .Please do your best to adhere to these guidelines when submitting work out of respect for my time and energy.
I run Neurokind on a volunteer basis and am not profiting from this project.
I will do my best to moderate this space, but please bear in mind that my energy must be allocated first to tending my own nervous system and my family.
Thank you for your understanding.
I can’t wait to make things together.

This is so exciting! Do you have any guidelines on length for written works?
